It looks like the GOP is still asleep on the campaign job. Why?
After inaction, a poor campaign effort, multiple resignations and inner party Never-Trumpers threw the House away in 2018 you’d think the GOP would wake up. They haven’t. It truly does appear they’d rather lose 2020 than to give Trump 4 more years.
They certainly have not been his allies in this term.
We are in very real danger of losing 2020. Conservative and GOP leadership is nowhere to be found. A large part of that problem is because old conservative media and organizations have been infiltrated by, or willing joined, the GOP establishment.
Any time you hear the talking heads or politicians say the key to the future is “taking back the GOP” instead of referring to our Constitution, you know you are hearing from the establishment.
Right now, we are already well into the 2020 fight. Democrats are gaining significantly and showing potential of winning Texas as they have with so many other formerly red states. They may be evil but they plan their work and work the plan. Democrats are tireless organizers and they’ve spent decades building a reliable funding stream.
Their biggest problem today is their poor candidates. They have a fantastic network which presents a formidable war machine. They just lack someone to throw it all behind. Do not think this can’t change? It can. A latecomer Democrat with a clean start and popularity can still be very dangerous. (No. I am not predicting Michelle will enter.)
Meanwhile; the Democrat-Republican establishment swamp works together to weaken Trump. For every Trump voter discouraged into staying home, one less Democrat vote is necessary. Many forces are working to accomplish this.
The Drudge Report has long been a conservative source for trusted news aimed at the right. Read it today and headlines are dominated by carefully selected negative Trump stories. This is the insidious action of GOP conservative establishment undermining Trump from within. We see the same with Fox News. Fox News has aligned with other establishment conservative players (Koch Bros etc) to isolate and weaken Trump. Positive stories about Trump and Trump policies are thinning out as an increasing number of bad news type stories replace them. The intent is to gradually paint a picture of a failed Trump presidency. In many ways, it has been a failure. In every way the GOP could help bring failure.
The GOP halted the Trump promise of full repeal of ObamaCare, they gutted his tax reform, they won’t prosecute Democrats (Lock her up?), they refused the border wall, they refused to even discuss closing entire federal departments. Most of the reasons we elected Trump became scrap on the GOP floor of Congress.
Now we are well into the battle for 2020 and Republicans are resigning from Congress in big numbers again. The slight efforts are for show but far from effective strategies. Conservative and GOP powers are not organizing voters, not working to recruit new voters, not getting behind President Trump, not organizing on the ground in swing states and other key areas. They are losing ground in old Democrat bastions Trump won and they have no plan for reversing the tide.
The loss of Texas would be catastrophic, and the GOP and conservative organizations are standing aside letting it happen. Repeating the same desultory inaction that led to a Democrat Blue Wave taking the 2018 House. The set up is exactly as it was then.
Conservative leadership and the GOP is prepping to take a fall in late rounds. Conservative TV and radio media is enabling the establishment with their silence on this overview. There is currently no national conservative broadcast media that is not establishment GOP and their actions prove it beyond the lies of their words.
We are the ones who must raise the volume and force the question: Where is the ground game and organizing from conservatives and the GOP?
It is nowhere to be seen on our streets, but Democrats are everywhere and working hard. Is the right going to continue to sleep through another 2018 type disaster with much bigger consequences?
They will if voters keep allowing it. Action begins right here with telling this truth and calling out conservative and GOP leaders who are still failing us. They need to get off their dead donation begging butts and prove they are worthy of support from voters who think more of President Trump than we do the crooked party establishment.
