Easter Message From Conpats

It is Easter weekend so time to lay off politics. Even though the crucifixion was purely political.

Americans should think more deeply about the life and messages of Christ.

In His day and ours the majority only hold respect and adoration for money and power. Christ defied that false reality always putting character and the struggle for simple human decency first and foremost. Decency. Not pacifist cowardice like that which infects Christianity today.

Sailors and fisherman have always been a rough lot. They still are. They were the rough blue collar of the world Christ lived in.

He walked into them as a stranger and just laid it out. They listened but no wuss like most church leaders today could pull that off.

When He went to the temple and saw the profiteers he did not sing Kumbaya and try to win change with love.

Jesus vandalized the place. He went off throwing people and breaking things in a violent rage right in front of armed guards and leaders who could and did get him butchered.

Was that anything like our cowards today who hide behind Christianity as an excuse to submit now hoping that fear leads them to salvation won by a Savior who did no such thing? Olsteen,   Swaggart and wealthy profiteers today won’t appear on public streets but they cash checks and live in mansions. Our modern men and temples of the money changers.

Now we live in troubled times feared by many but still ruled by the “respected” who devote life to attaining power and wealth.

To this day mankind still values those who gather riches and trappings of success more than a poorer man rich in the values he placed above worldly goods.

That was the message of Christ– get your head straight because you are here once. You will be judged by One not fooled by the facade that works so well here.

The suffering of Christ we humbly honor now is not for the pity of a helpless victim.

We praise the legacy and example of a Man among men who walked His talk, acted when others shrank and died for the right reasons when He could have easily saved himself by fleeing.

I am humbled. We all should be.

We all have Easter to remind us standing on principles of doing the right thing at all times for those who depend upon us is the real reason we are here.

I pray daily for the strength and wisdom to have these priorities correct for the brief time I am here.

I pray I have the guts of Christ to walk my talk. We all should.

A better Man than us has showed us how.
